Printing

Funny coincidence that David writes how well Linux and Printers go together for 12 years, while it is apparently impossible to print something with CUPS in unstable since a week ;)

Works fine for me. Maybe you ought to invest the time in finding the problem rather than ranting? ;)

I really wonder why you feel like ranting like this, in a quite useless way. Either you contribute to fix the bug (the bug log you mention shows no contribution by you), or you shut up, as in all our do-ocratic ways of behaving.

Ranting publicly this way brings nothing useful: neither to the community, nor to the actual bug.

It was not really a rant. I just found the coincidence funny that he praises the printing under Linux while I cannot print for 1 week. What’s really sad about your reaction is that you still believe in the dogma that one should only praise various efforts in the free software community or fix bugs but don’t dare to mention what works not. And most important don’t mention it in public…
